Bupleurum falcatum

Bupleurum falcatum has been widely used for over 2,000 years in Asia and is used today in Japan and China for hepatitis, cirrhosis, and other conditions associated with inflammation. It is indicated in chemical (industrial) liver damage, and acute and chronic liver disease. I combine it with other liver detoxifying and protective herbs such as Milk Thistle, Schisandra and Dandelion root.

Black Cohosh

Black Cohosh is used primarily for hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms such as vaginal thinning and drying, night sweats, sleep disturbances, anxiety and depression.

Bacopa monieri

Bacopa monnieri is a brain and nervine tonic according to Ayurvedic Medicine. It is included in the “Brahmi” category of herbs, that is, herbs that benefit both the mind and spirit and improve the intellect and consciousness. Bacopa assists in heightening mental acuity and it may enhance learning and academic performance according to clinical trials. I use it in combination with Gingko and it is part of my “Brain tonic” formula.

Astragalus, also known as huang qi in the Chinese traditional medicine, is one of them most important “Qi tonifying” adaptogenic herbs. In the Western herbal medicine, Astragalus is used primarily for restoring and strengthening the immune response, enhancing cardiovascular function and increasing vitality. According to clinical trials, it is indicated for impaired immunity, viral infections including the common cold and cervical erosion associated with Herpes simplex and as an adjunct for cancer treatment. I have found it to work great for abnormal cervical cell changes and positive PAP test (HPV infection) in combination with Echinacea and other immune enhancing herbs.
