Saw Palmetto

Saw palmetto berry was commonly recommended for various prostatic conditions by healthcare professionals in the early part of the twentieth century. There are numerous controlled clinical studies that confirm the safety and effectiveness of Saw Palmetto in treating the symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).

Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto inhibits 5-α reductase, the enzyme that converts free testosterone into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the androgen responsible for prostatic enlargement and male pattern baldness. It is also an anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic and possibly anti-androgenic. It can be used to treat BHP, acute and chronic prostatitis and some modern herbalists have used it for male and female infertility.
